About Us
The story behind Minneapolis Dog Parks
Why We Started This Site
When we first moved to Minneapolis with our two rescue dogs, we spent hours driving around trying to find decent off-leash parks. Some were great. Others were muddy, crowded, or had aggressive dogs with owners who didn't seem to care. We wasted a lot of gas and a lot of weekends figuring out which parks were actually worth visiting.
After a few years of trial and error, we had our own mental list of go-to spots. Friends started asking us for recommendations. Coworkers with new puppies wanted to know where to go. We found ourselves giving the same advice over and over: "Skip that one, it floods every time it rains" or "Go early on weekends, it gets packed by 10am."
That's when we decided to put everything we'd learned into one place. Not a generic list copied from Yelp, but real information from people who've actually been to these parks dozens of times. We wanted to share the stuff that matters—like which parks have shade in the summer, which ones have separate areas for small dogs, and which ones you should avoid after a rainstorm.
What We're Trying to Do
Our goal is simple: help dog owners in Minneapolis find quality places to take their dogs without all the guesswork. We know how important it is for dogs to run, play, and socialize. A tired dog is a happy dog, and a happy dog means a happier home.
We're not trying to cover every single dog park in the metro area. Instead, we focus on the ones that are actually worth your time. The parks we recommend are places we'd take our own dogs—and we still do, pretty much every week.
If this site helps even a few people find a great park for their pup, then it was worth putting together. Minneapolis is an amazing city for dogs, and we want to help more people enjoy it with their four-legged friends.
"There's nothing better than watching your dog sprint across an open field, ears flapping, tail going crazy. That's what this is all about."
